Lyralog Terms of Service
Effective date: effective date
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and operator name ("we", "us"), operator address. They govern your use of the Lyralog mobile app, its API and related websites (together, "Lyralog" or the "Service").
By creating an account or using Lyralog, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
In short: Lyralog is a personal journal with AI features. It is not a doctor, therapist, financial adviser or emergency service. AI-generated summaries, answers, charts and correlations can be wrong. Use them for reflection, not for medical, mental-health, financial or legal decisions. Your entries remain yours.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to agree to a contract where you live. You may use Lyralog only for your own personal, non-commercial life logging.
2. Your account
- Give an email address you control, and keep your password and devices secure. We recommend turning on biometric unlock (Settings → Security).
- You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at lyralogai@gmail.com if you believe someone else has accessed it.
- One person per account. Don't share accounts or create one for someone else without their permission.
3. The Service
- What it does. You record entries by text. Lyralog stores them, extracts structured information (such as tracker type, tags and metrics like mood, sleep or spending), answers questions using only your own entries, and draws charts from them.
- Offline use. Entries saved without a connection are stored on your device and upload when you're back online. Entries that haven't synced exist only on that device. If you sign out, uninstall the app or lose the device before they sync, they are lost.
- Changes and beta features. We continuously improve Lyralog and may add, change or remove features. Features labelled "beta" or "preview" may be incomplete or unreliable. We'll give reasonable notice before removing a feature you rely on, where we can.
- Availability. We aim for high availability but don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own exports of anything important (Settings → Data & Privacy → Export My Data).
4. Your content
You own your content. Everything you enter ("Your Content") belongs to you. So do the insights derived from it.
The licence you give us. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process and transmit Your Content only to operate and provide the Service to you. That includes:
- sending it to our service providers, such as our AI provider under Zero Data Retention, as described in the Privacy Policy
- making backups
- showing it back to you
We do not use Your Content to advertise to you, sell it, or train AI models. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for backups, which expire as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your responsibility. You're responsible for what you log. Be thoughtful about writing sensitive information about other people. You must have the right to record it, and you must not use Lyralog to collect personal data about others for any purpose other than your own journal.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions or bug reports, we may use them without obligation to you.
5. AI-generated insights: important disclaimers
5.1 Not professional advice
Lyralog's AI features produce extracted metrics, summaries, answers to your questions, charts, trends, correlations and suggested follow-up dates ("Insights"). Insights are for personal information and reflection only. They are not:
- medical, health or mental-health advice, diagnosis or treatment. Lyralog is not a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition
- financial, investment, tax or accounting advice. Spending totals and trends are based only on what you logged and may be incomplete or misread
- legal or other professional advice
Always consult a qualified professional about your health, finances or legal matters. Never ignore professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something Lyralog showed you.
5.2 Not for emergencies
Lyralog does not monitor your entries and will not alert anyone. If you are in danger, or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number right away. In the US, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. In the UK and Ireland, call Samaritans on 116 123. Elsewhere, find a local helpline at findahelpline.com.
5.3 Insights can be wrong
- Extraction can misread an entry. For example, it might record the wrong number, unit or category. Check extracted details before relying on them.
- Answers are grounded only in your entries. If your log doesn't contain the answer, Lyralog replies "I don't have any logged entries regarding that." rather than guessing. An answer is only as complete and accurate as what you logged and what the search retrieves, and may still misstate something. Each answer says how many of your entries it was based on; check important answers against those entries.
- Correlation isn't causation. When a chart suggests two things move together (for example, sleep and mood), that doesn't mean one causes the other, and patterns in a small personal dataset are often coincidental.
- Suggested dates are reminders, not schedules. A suggested next date, such as for a recurring task, is an estimate. Don't rely on it for medication, legal deadlines or safety-critical tasks.
You use Insights at your own discretion and risk.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use Lyralog to harass, threaten or harm anyone
- try to access another user's account or data, or bypass authentication, rate limits or security controls. (Good-faith security research under our Security Policy is welcome.)
- probe, scan or load-test the Service without our written permission, or disrupt it for others
- reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows despite this restriction
- use automated means to create accounts or send requests, other than the app itself
- attempt to extract prompts or model behaviour, or manipulate the AI features to produce harmful content
- resell, sublicense or offer the Service to others, or use it to build a competing product
- upload malware, or content you have no right to store
7. Fees
Lyralog is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you the price and terms before you're charged. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play are then governed by their billing terms as well. Nothing you're already using for free will start costing money without your choice.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, including:
- AI processing under Zero Data Retention
- how biometric unlock works
- your rights to export your data (JSON or CSV) and delete it
9. Termination
9.1 By you
You can stop using Lyralog at any time. To close your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email lyralogai@gmail.com. Deletion is permanent and removes your entries as described in the Privacy Policy. Export your data first if you want to keep it.
9.2 By us
We may suspend or close your account if:
- you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms (§6 in particular)
- we must do so to comply with the law or a valid legal order
- your use creates a security risk, or risks harming other users, the Service or third parties
- we discontinue the Service (§9.4)
Except where the law, a security risk or a serious breach prevents it, we'll:
- Notify you by email with the reason
- give you at least 30 days to export your data before your account and entries are deleted
- tell you how to contest the decision if you think it's a mistake
A suspension blocks new activity while we investigate. It does not delete your data.
9.3 Inactive accounts
We don't delete accounts for inactivity without first emailing you, and giving you at least 60 days' notice and a way to keep the account.
9.4 Discontinuing the Service
If we shut Lyralog down, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice in the app and by email so you can export your data. After that, remaining data is deleted as the Privacy Policy describes.
9.5 What survives
Sections 4 (your ownership, and the licence while data is held), 5, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 16 survive termination.
10. Our intellectual property
Lyralog's software, design, and the names "Lyralog" and "Lyralog" belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the app store's usage rules. Open-source components are licensed under their own licences, which take precedence for those components.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all Insights are provided "as is" and "as available". We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free
- Insights will be accurate or complete
- data synced from an offline device will never be lost
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on Insights
- our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50
These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or wilful misconduct.
13. Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law, and a third party makes a claim against us as a result, you'll cover our reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent permitted by law. This doesn't apply if you're a consumer in a jurisdiction that doesn't allow it.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of governing law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in venue.
Before filing a claim, please contact lyralogai@gmail.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.
If you're a consumer in the EU, UK or another country with mandatory consumer protections, nothing in these Terms takes away those rights. That includes your right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
15. App store terms
If you downloaded Lyralog from Apple's App Store, you and we acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation, to the extent permitted by law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any product liability, consumer protection, or legal or regulatory compliance claims relating to the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and defending any claim that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo, or on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms, such as your wireless data provider's, when using the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Questions, complaints or claims about the app should go to us at lyralogai@gmail.com, operator address.
If you downloaded Lyralog from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of Google Play.
16. General
- Changes to these Terms. We'll update the effective date for every change. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect, unless the change is required by law or fixes a security issue. If you keep using Lyralog after that, you accept the new Terms. If you don't agree, you can export your data and delete your account.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a term right away doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice to you, and your rights under them continue.
- Force majeure. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
